Recklessly Loved

If we really believe in Resurrection, and the power that comes along with it through Christ, then we should have no problem dying to our selves, past, present, or future.  So, why do I have so much trouble letting go?

Maybe belief is not an either you do or you don't thing. Maybe there are degrees of faith. One of my favorite Scriptures is the honest man who cried out to Jesus, "I believe, help me in my unbelief". I love that story for two reasons...first, I see myself in the man's earnest cry and secondly, Jesus honored the request and answered the prayer.

C.S. Lewis said, "We should not think of people as either in God's camp or outside it, rather as either moving towards Him or away."

I think that's why Paul urged the Colossians to "...let your roots grow deep down into Christ. Let the same faith that saved you grow in your daily walk." (Morrow's paraphrase Col 2:6-7) Later in the same letter Paul says, "We are being renewed in knowledge and in the image of the Creator." (Col 3:10) I think this means we are 'learning' to let go of things that we still believe have value, while God teaches us a whole new, much improved value system.
