Recklessly Loved
Judges 12 10/05/2009

Judges 12:1-3
Whenever the Lord gives us Victory in some way, whether in a program, relationship, situation, or battle (spiritual or physical), there are always going to be people who will be jealous and angry, and who will come against us with deception, vengeance, and manipulation; often because they didn’t want to take the risk of losing or falling.  You can’t have Victory without the possibility of defeat.  It’s wise to choose our battles, but when the Lord calls us to engage in some risky activity, and our faith fails us and we choose not to engage, God will find someone with enough faith who will engage.  It’s not their fault we missed out on the Victory that was available; it’s ours!  Don’t miss out on the possibility of great Victory in Christ because you’re lazy or scared, but if you do, don’t compound your sin by blaming someone else.  And if you have experienced Victory in Christ and someone is coming against you, confront it head on with the Truth, and God will give you another Victory!

  • What are the areas in my life that I have, or am, experiencing Victory in Christ?
  • What areas do I have Victory in?  Am I willing to risk putting myself out?  There in faith to experience that Victory?
  • What battles do I need to fight?
  • Who is coming against me?  Why?  How can I love them in Truth?

    Note from Jeremy

These devotional notes, thoughts, and questions are taken straight out of my daily Bible time.  For my devotional time in the Word of God, I  go through an Old Testament and New Testament book of the Bible, and as I do, I try to take a few brief notes with some questions to help stay disciplined, alert and challenged.  It also helps me go back and reflect on a passage that I haven't studied in a while as it serves as a devotional commentary on these passages.  So, I've decided to share some of my thoughts and questions on these passages here as they come out.  I hope you enjoy, and please feel free to comment.
